Since you might have got here straight from the trailer, let’s talk about why we’re even doing this in the first place. I'm sure you've had days, that become weeks, where it seems work is repetitive and just so mind numbing. Nothing is exciting, you go home and dread the next day. We were having one of those weeks. One day after we had slogged our way through work, we said enough was enough, we need to change something.
Then inspiration hit - if we can't change the work we are doing, what if we could challenge ourselves to do it in some truly unique places?
So we headed out to see if it would work.
We had such fun making a little office in the field, we decided to make this into more than a one-off. How far could we take this? There are a couple of reasons why it worked so well:
1 - Body Doubling/Co-Working is one of the most effective ways I use to be productive, and it is something I love using to complete work I’ve been avoiding personally.
2 - ‘Work with me’ videos are great, but we noticed they are all quite similar. We thought wouldn’t it be cool if we could work in lots of different environments, leaning in on the amazing world around us.
3 - Sharing these wonderful places with people who aren't able to bring a desk to the top of a mountain in Peru, hopefully offers people a little bit of escapism, and helps them get through their work for the day.
4 - I LOVE challenges - what if I really can work while riding a mechanical bull? I find if I set the challenge as ‘focus despite people staring’ or the noises, then the distracting things already there - my brain doesn’t need to create them. It can switch focus, ironically to focus itself. It doesn’t feel like self sabotage, but an incredible achievement.
5 - If I, someone who struggles with productivity every single day, can work in some really unique environments (some of which are incredibly busy), then it’s proven that wherever you are you really can work!
6 - On a personal note, I am working on putting myself out there more, working as a family and producing these videos is a wonderful way of doing that, as it's something I believe in and I am not doing it alone.
Check out the first video dropping on Monday!
